Serve The Lord With Gladness

“Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy. Psalms 47:1

Have you ever wondered why the birds sing so joyfully in the morning? How they flit and flutter from tree to tree, landing just long enough to release their sweet melodies calling their mates or reassuring their little ones. These beautiful melodic sounds greet my ears and settle down deep in my heart, simple, yet comforting. It’s at times like these that I am reminded of how precious my Fathers love for me is and how his presence fills my soul with such joy and gladness. And my heart is filled with a deep abiding love and gratitude.

“Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” Psalm 100:2

Don’t you just enjoy being with happy people? People that always smile and greet you with a kind word? Someone who speaks positive words that lift you up and makes you feel like you can make it through another day, no matter what challenges that comes your way. As apposed to someone who has a permanent frown that constantly complains and never has anything positive to say. They talk about themselves [or others] and how difficult their life is or how someone else did something that offended them. How do others see you? Do you present yourself as a happy child of God? Do you always greet others with a smile and kind word? Or do others seem to shy away from you?

“For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.” Psalm 92:4

True joy is that overwhelming sense of comfort and contentment that floods one’s soul. It comes with dwelling in the presence of the Heavenly Father. Learn to serve the Lord with gladness, not with a frown, not out of habit, not even out of the feeling of duty, but serve Him with a joyous heart. To serve Him is a privilege; one that we should never take lightly for it is only by His mercy and grace that we even have the opportunity to serve such a Holy, Mighty, Awesome God!

Father, I love you and desire to serve You with gladness and a song in my heart all day long. Please remind me when I am overwhelmed by life’s situations that You are ever present to fill my heart with joy. Help me to always share your love with others. In you precious name, Amen!

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

With everything around us constantly changing, we have the comfort of knowing that our Heavenly Father never changes. He is the only constant in our lives. His love and faithfulness are the solid foundation that we can build our lives on. People and circumstances change but his love and compassion for us never change. No matter how dark or discouraging our circumstances may appear, our Father’s hand is guiding and gives wise direction to every decision and problem that comes our way. We are greeted daily with His mercies…How great His faithfulness.

“He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” Deuteronomy 32:4

Are you in the valley or are you praising Him on the mountain top? Do you see the glass half empty or half full? Have faith and believe He will see you through. Our Father delights in our trust in Him. His word is fresh everyday! His Presence is always with us no matter how alone or lonely we are! When we study and meditate upon His word, it fills us with hope and uplifts and encourages our wounded and broken heart. Through the Holy Spirit we have a future of hope and eternal reward. His word reveals this truth again and again. Open his word today and allow it to minister to what’s going on in your life.

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them.” Psalm 34:7

If you are feeling alone and pursued by your enemies, turn to the One who is our salvation, our rock, and our redeemer…Hold on! He will see you through. God is still faithful. His word reveals this truth again and again. We are surrounded by amazing beauty and wonders that bear witness to His great faithfulness, mercy and love. We cannot help but give praise and thanksgiving to our loving, faithful and unchanging Heavenly Father. How great is His faithfulness!

Heavenly Father, thank you so much! No matter how difficult things are for us, You are always there. You do not change and Your compassions do not fail. Your faithfulness is great and your mercies endure forever. I praise Your name! Amen.

It’s Just Stuff!

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world…” Psalm 19:1-4

Why do we always want more? Why can’t we ever be satisfied with all that we have? Why do we always feel the need for bigger, better, prettier, wealthier? No matter the cost we are always wanting and working for more. More things that cost us so dearly, often robbing us of our precious time and energy. Things that have very little value…Just ‘stuff’.

Oh! But look what all we are blessed with; We have tree’s taller than buildings, houses that are warm and cozy, food to fill up plates and have seconds to spare. We can go barefoot in the lush green grass in summer and play on snowcap mountains in winter. We have kittens and puppies who curl up in our laps with contentment. We have stars that twinkle and sunsets that paint the sky rainbows of colors. We have melodic sounds of birds singing and the wonderful smells of lavander, jasmine and honeysuckle. There are deep echoing canyons and babbling brooks and the ocean with all its wonders. We have family and friends to love and enjoy. We have eyes that crinkle at the edges from lifetimes of smiling and laughter…We have beautiful, priceless laughter!

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal:” Mathew 6:19

God gave us all that we could ever need to be wealthy, healthy, happy and whole. We simply need to stop living for the ‘stuff’ in our lives long enough to realize that He gave us so much more. Enjoy the beauty of all that He created, It is His gift to us. He knows each star in the heavens and each bird in the air. How much more does He care for you? We often rush too quickly through life to even notice the beauty and richness that surrounds us. His fingerprints are in all of creation and we are wealthy…very, very, wealthy!

Father, thank You for all you have Created for us. You gave us so much more then we could ever buy, collect or earn. Help us to be ever mindful of the richness and beauty of all that surrounds us. Help us to desire ‘stuff’ less and love ‘You’ more. We praise your wholly name, Amen.

Strength And Comfort For Our Journey

“Blessed be . . . the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Life is a journey that sometimes seems very hard and frustrating and can often be very unpredictable. Today, it seems like so many people are going through difficult trials. Physical, financial or emotional trials. We can have wonderful days when everything is in perfect harmony. Then there are days when we seem to be weighted down with so many storm clouds. It may seem like we are hit from all directions with trouble of one kind or another and we can’t seem to catch our breath because of the intensity of It all. It’s during these difficult times that we need the ever present abiding fellowship with our Father in Heaven who supplies us with the strength and courage to weather these storms.

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.” 1 Peter 4:12

Christians are not immune from the trials of life. Christ made no promise that those who followed him would enjoy a special immunity from pain and sorrow. Nor did he himself experience such immunity. He did, however; promise enough joy and courage, enough love and confidence to enable us to do far more than survive. God loves each of us and cares very deeply about our sadness, our trials and our frustrations.

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.” 2 Corinthians 1:3

God knows exactly what we need to make it in the difficult times in our life. He offers us two indispensable tools for getting us through our trials. He gives us comfort and strength. Comfort calms us, gives us hope, encourages our faith and gives us the ability to trust Him for the strength to press on. He gives us the strength needed to help us overcome obstacles of everyday life. He comforts with His hope and then gives us the strength to indure. Today may God comfort your heart and mind and give you all the strength you need to cope and move forward.

Father, we come to You for peace and quiet. There are so many storms in life and we need the reassurance of Your presence. Please guide us according to Your perfect will for us.. In Jesus Name, Amen.

God Is Love

“How precious is Your steadfast love, O God? The children of men take refuge and put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.” Psalm 36: 7

Have you ever thought about how really wonderful love is? The depth of this one little four letter word truly rocks our world! It is the one thing that is sought after universally. It is the basis of our very existence. Without love we have nothing. There would be no reason to live. Know this, that God loves you, because God is love. He loves you when you don’t feel lovely. He loves you when no one else loves you. Others may abandon you, divorce you and ignore you, but God will love you forever.

“There are three things that will endure: faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

The Bible indicates that love is from God. In fact, the Bible says “God is love.” Without love, there would be no Christianity, or any other religion in the world for that matter. Jesus said “How precious is your steadfast love…” (Psalms 36:7) Love is the ties that bind us all together. Think about this…Hope will disappear in heaven, because we will have everything we have ever hoped for there. Faith will not be required in heaven, because we will know that God is real. Only love will remain steadfast forever. Unconditional, everlasting [agape] love.

“And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” Colossians 3:14

If you are not a Christian, I hope you desire to express love as defined in the Bible. The bible says that love is a quality that we should all cultivate. Do you feel unlovable? It doesn’t matter. He still loves you. You can’t stop that kind of love. You can only surrender. He just can’t help loving you. His love is always sure. Seasons change, people change, the world is changing, but God never changes. May the Father direct your hearts into a deeper love for Him.

Lord, we are so grateful for the many ways you show your love to us. Thank you, for loving and caring for us so much. Help us to love You more then we love anyone or anything else in our lives and to desire a more loving relationship with You. I ask this in your precious name. Amen

Is Your Faith Bigger Then Your Fear

“And all the things you ask in prayer, having faith, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22

Have you ever been paralyzed by fear and had no hope except to depend on your faith in God? When I was a little girl I had a paralyzing fear of the dark. In my innocent youth, I had no way of knowing that through Jesus, I held the power to overcome my fears. I know now that we have many choices in this life, one is whether we will choose to live by faith or live in fear. Faith and fear are complete opposites. They cannot reign in the same heart. While fear cowers, faith stands. While fear frets, faith prays. While fear looks within, faith looks to Jesus. While fear despairs, faith hopes.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Fear is a negative faith and it is based on doubting that God is still in control of things. Negative faith suggests that our situation has gotten too big for even God to Control. The positive road is ‘faith’ and the negative road is ‘fear’. The problem is that we can’t be on two roads at the same time. God does not want us to be shackled by the chains of fear. He wants us to live in the powerful freedom of faith.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

To have the strength to counter fear, you have to be filled up on the truth, God’s written word promises us, for every fear there is a biblical promise that counters that lie. Write down every fear that you hold in your heart and find the biblical answer to that fear, claim these promises daily. You will begin to grow in faith Instead of being driven by worry and fear. Walking in faith pleases God and gets results. You will begin to experience peace, joy and spiritual victory. Soon your faith will be bigger then your fear.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27

Father, I ask that you give us all the power to have faith to over come our fears. That we may take comfort in knowing that you are only a whisper away. We thank you for never leaving us or forsaking us when we need you the most. Amen

The Source Of My Strength

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

I am one of those women that never say’s ‘no’ to anyone. I don’t really know why except that I have a heart to serve. I love being busy. On occasion, I find my ‘yeses’ extending beyond my ‘no’s’ Before I know what has happened! I am completely out of fuel, emotionally and mentally tired beyond belief. Sometimes I even feel a little spiritually depleted. It’s during these times, when we allow ourselves to become so exhausted, that we feel insecure and vulnerable. Things that wouldn’t necessarily bother you before are getting to you now because you are sensitive and you don’t understand why. Maybe we find ourselves reacting to situations with a more defensive attitude, feeling impatient or angry. How many of us experience these moment in our lives,? When we realize that we ‘did it again!’ We found ourselves with empty cups at a time when we need them full the most.

“This is what the LORD says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16

Remember this…I am weak. He is strong. Being reminded of your weakness is not a bad thing. It is not a personal message that you are not good enough. Rather, being reminded of your weakness is a call to spend time in God’s presence. It is a personal message of our need for him. It’s through His grace that you can continue to run the race of life. We can relish those times; sit and dwell in the fact that despite ourselves, despite our inabilities and inadequacies, our God makes us strong. He gives us energy for the day. He prepares our body for our needs and He sustains our mind with peace. He restores our soul with confidence. He prepares our heart and wraps it over and over in love.

Are you tired? Exhausted? Drained and just ready to take a nap and call it quits? Meet with Him. He will refresh and renew you, enabling you to go out into the world to serve your family and friends filled with a newfound sense of His peace, love, and joy. I encourage you to cherish this time because it reminds us that when we are vulnerable, we have a source to go to that will make everything right. Instead of beating ourselves up for letting our cups get empty, let’s be thankful, it’s during these times that reminds us who refuels us, who restores our soul and replace’s our weariness with strength, our resentment with thanksgiving, our irritability with patience, and our anxiety with peace.

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.” Isaiah 40:28
