Joy Down In My Heart

By Georgia (Jo) Kent

‘I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart” (Where) Down in my heart (Where) Down in my heart to stay.’

What does the joy of the Lord mean? It’s not pretending that you have no problems and that everything is okay. It is recognition that God is present in all your successes, failures, disappointments, and dilemmas. Joy is the highest attainment of life. It’s even higher then happiness.

To understand God’s definition of joy and how it should look in our lives as Christians, we first need to learn how to let go of our need to need. Feel the reality that you already are enough, and that it is truly magnificent. Don’t worry about what will be or what won’t be. See and feel the limitless beauty of what is and the miracle of existence. Even the biggest problems are no match for the positive possibilities that fill your life.

“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Psalms 16:11

Embrace the joyful times in your life. Live them fully. A moment of true, unencumbered joy is worth more than pure gold. When you regularly lose yourself in joy, you will think more clearly, be more motivated, feel better and be healthier. When you have more joy in your own life, you have more to give others. By experiencing joy, you enable the true person inside you to come to life and it will add immensely to your life and the lives of those around you. Let yourself be joyful, without guilt. Learn to value the joyful moments and lose yourself in their richness.

“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

To find the fullness of joy you must live in the presence of the Lord. When we remain connected to him through prayer, worship, walking in obedience, reading the word, sharing our love with family and fellowshipping with other Christians, we can experience a level of joy that the world cannot give to us. Let’s relish every moment of life as we live it and find joy in the journey. One day each of us will run out of tomorrows. We can all find joy when we keep our Heavenly Father as our guide.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

Change Happens

By Georgia (Jo) Kent

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Change is something that we all go through. We have big changes in our lives and we have little changes. Sometimes God changes our temperment, our views, and our heart or maybe he calls us to change our lives completely by relocating us to another place. Some of us are set in our ways and we can’t imagine change in any way. There are some things I don’t want to change myself but the fact is in life we all go through some type of change and it affects us in some way.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Sometimes we can’t see Gods plan and sometimes we will never know why He worked in a certain way. Change can often be very hard. But in the end, we learn from these changes and they always make us stronger. I’ve learned that good things wait for me every time God asks me to step outside my comfort zone. We can always look back and see how He walked us through it and the blessing we received from it.

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

We will probably never understand why God changes our lives in different directions. Change will happen and in the end, all we can do is trust the Lord and allow His moving and leading. He always has a plan for our lives to make us the best that we can be. Ultimately, He is good and faithful and in adversity he will provide for us what we need to survive. He does not always change our painful circumstances; however, He sustains us through them. Ultimately, it has to be Gods will over personal choice. I encourage you to be open to any changes that God will call for you to make. It will always make your life better.

Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is The Lord who goes before you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

We Are Royal Heirs

By Georgia (Jo) Kent

“The spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs of God and co- heirs with Christ’ if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory” Romans 8:16-17

We are Heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. We are God’s heirs, not because of our own righteousness, but because of His grace. When we ask God to come into our lives he becomes our Heavenly Father. We become part of a royal family of heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven. This makes us children of a Royal Priesthood. As heirs of god, we have inherited riches and the promise of his blessings.

“Now we are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has also made you an Heir. Galatians 4:7

This great honor also comes with responsibilities. People are watching our behavior. What we do, what we say, how we act and how we live. This is a part of allowing others see Christ through us. Our Heavenlly Father is watching our behavior also. What does the world see within our behavior? Do we give honor to our Father in everything that we do and say? Do we show happiness and contentment? It is a big responsibility to represent our Father, who is perfect in every way. He leads by example and he gave us a book of instructions…the Bible. I pray that when I stand before my Father in Heaven that he will be able to say to me ‘Well done my child’! God is faithful, I shall be completely happy and unspeakably blessed.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, Come those who are blessed by my Father; “Take your inheritance, the kingdom, prepared for you since the creation of the world” Matthew 25:34

Living in God’s Will….

By Georgia (Jo) Kent

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him”. -1 John 2:15

Heavenly Treasures or Earthly Stuff’…Words that sum up my husband and my experience when we felt like God was calling us to ‘Get our house in order’! We took this to mean to get our finances inline with his word. That call resulted in our selling our home our business and all our belongings. We had no idea where God was taking us or why. After three months of traveling we still had no answers. With exception of family, we had completely closed the doors to our past and were trying to find that ‘aha’ place that we could both fall in love with. We have always been attracted to a little coastal town that we had often fished for Salmon in. This is where we ended our quest to find God’s will in our life. This is where we learned to live by faith and found perfect peace in every fiber of our being.

“Be very careful then, how you live— not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the day’s are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lords wil is”. -Ephesians 5:15-17

“We had both always been Christians but never lived completely in God’s will. This change in our lives has taken us to a different realm of our Christianity. To be completely obedient with God’s will, we have learned how to put Him first in our lives in every way. We have found a church that welcomes the presence of the Holy Spirit in every service. A church family that lovingly embraces us. A surrounding environment that satisfies both of our favorite hobbies. A beautiful landscape that allows us to hear God’s whispers in the gentle breezes. We began to Daily feed our spirit on his word. Today we are happier then we have ever been before… God blesses us on a daily basis with heavenly treasures and all that it cost us was obedience to his will and giving up at whole lot of  stuff’.”

For I know the plans I have for you, “declares The Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Jeremiah 29:11
